Animal testing; for and against
Article Abstract:
Arguments supporting animals being used in research include the fact that animals do not have the same rights as people, vaccines for polio, whooping cough and pneumonia were developed as a result of animal testing and drugs for cancer and other serious medical conditions also relied on animal research. Opponents argue that animal research has been counter-productive and has cost lives rather than saved them. Many drugs which have appeared safe when tried on animals have proved to be dangerous to people. Likewise, some drugs kill animals but are safe for people.
