Physicians advised on how to offer pain relief while preventing opioid abuse
Article Abstract:
The health care and law enforcement communities are facing a critical balancing problem to establish balance between good medical practice and effective law enforcement. Realizing this, a consensus document was jointly produced by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Pain and Policy Studies Group at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison to address the clinical and regulatory issues surrounding the prescription of controlled drugs.

Scientists, advocates and international policy leaders are confronted with scientific and medical challenges, as they are trying to realize the therapeutic potential of embryonic stem cells. The US federal government has strict control on federally funded embryonic stem cell research, but many states and private organizations are providing funds for research that strays from federal government policy.
