Anticoagulants: Oral drug options may expand

A new oral anticoagulant, ximelagatran is compared to warfarin, an oral anticoagulant that reduces the blood's cloting ability, in clinical trials and if approved by the Food and Drug Administration, its use might offer some good medical options. It acts directly to inhibit the action of a protein in the blood called thrombin, which stimulates clotting.
