Easing the discomfort of oxygen therapy
Article Abstract:
Humidification strategies can help patients get the most from oxygen therapy while avoiding a build of mucus secretions which can be detrimental to treatment. Nurses are ideally placed to monitor oxygen therapy patients and ensure the correct delivery system is being used for the individual. There are several different types of oxygen delivery systems which should be assessed for use depending on the individual circumstances of the patient. Humidity levels affect the impact oxygen therapy has on the recovery rate of patients.

Life and death decisions
Article Abstract:
The early assessment and correct treatment of head injuries could improve survival rates for victims. UK neurosurgical units treat up to 10,000 people each year, with accident and emergency (A&E) departments coping with 1 million head injuries cases in 1997. Trauma management is carried out using the advance trauma life support programme, focusing on prioritized evaluation to assess risk levels and possible damage. Inadequate trauma staff training hinders the management of head injury patients in A&E departments.
