Association of socioeconomic status with functional capacity, heart rate recovery and all-cause mortality
Article Abstract:
The extent to which, exercise physiologic characteristics account for the association between lower socioeconomic status (SES) and mortality is evaluated. Impaired functional capacity and abnormal heart rate recovery were strongly associated with lower SES and accounted for a major proportion of the correlation between SES and mortality, and hence efforts to modify these clinical features among patients with low SES may narrow disparities in mortality.

Development and validation of a prognostic index for a 4-year mortality in older adults
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to develop and validate a prognostic index for 4-year mortality using information that can be obtained from patient report. This prognostic index, incorporating age, sex, self-reported comorbid conditions, and functional measures, accurately stratifies community-dwelling older adults into groups of varying risk of mortality.

Global risk scores and exercise testing for predicting all-cause mortality in a preventive medicine program
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that exercise stress tests, combined with the Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE) European global scoring system for cardiovascular mortality, can be a useful tool for stratifying health risks among asymptomatic individuals. Data are drawn from 3,554 adults from 50 to 75 years of age.
