Beyond the fringe: Complementary therapies at the margin of health care
Article Abstract:
Many practitioners and users believe in the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of complementary therapies, and there is a call for integration with conventional medicine. However even some well-established therapies such as acupuncture and homeopathy are seen as unscientific and not given full NHS backing. Established and emergent differences should be understood if an integrated approach is sought by all, and any similarities in method and practice will be a step towards new ways of working.
