Fatalities at workplace among Hispanic workers continue to rise. Language and cultural barriers are coming in the way of effectively implementation of safety measures. OSHA has created a Hispanic Task Force to study the issue. OSHA administrator John Henshaw stresses the role of the employer in improving the conditions at the workplace.

OSHA's Site Specific Target (SST) inspection program is directed at companies that report high lost workday injury and illness rate (LWDII). OSHA has identified approximately 3,200 high hazard job sites for inspection in fiscal year 2004.
