Cancer vaccine strategies get bigger and better
Article Abstract:
A properly designed cancer vaccine can be very effective, as shown by a study of 20 lymphoma patients who were given granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor in addition to the cancer vaccine. GM-CSF promotes the presentation of the tumor antigen to cytotoxic T cells.

Prime boost vaccines power up in people
Article Abstract:
Vaccines that use DNA for priming and recombinant modified vaccinia Ankara virus (MVA) for boosting show great promise in pre-clinical models. This heterologous prime-boost protocol that is used in human trials is discussed.

A new genetic method to generate and isolate small, short-lived but highly potent dendritic cell-tumor cell hybrid vaccines
Article Abstract:
For the preparation of cancer vaccines, fusion of tumor cells with antigen-presenting cells has been used. Characterization of cell fusion, which helps in identification, is discussed.
