Caring for self: becoming a self-reflective nurse
Article Abstract:
Practicing self-reflection can improve a nurse's ability to take care of others. Self-reflection educates in that one analyzes one's experience and learns from that analysis. Self-reflection helps nurses learn how to take care of themselves by improving health habits and learning how to manage stress. The knowledge gained then enhances the nurse's ability to care for others and develop caring relationships with colleagues. A journal is a useful means of practicing self-reflection.
