Reaching out: parents accuse health professionals of leaving them in the dark after the birth of children with limb defects
Article Abstract:
Debates over the possible causes of limb deficiency at birth continue. A government advisory group report has ruled out environmental causes, although there could be a link to chorionic villus sampling (CVS), which is a pre-natal test. A focus meeting organised by Reach, the association for the families of children with hand or arm deficiency, with Glasgow University's Public Health Research Unit, found that parents were concerned over the lack of services and information.

Language skills in children with visual problems
Article Abstract:
Parents can do a lot to help their blind or visually impaired child acquire verbal skills. Parents should talk about things a child is paying attention to. They should label objects specifically. They should also say specifically what the sound or object is. They should also perform an action to accompany spoken words.
