Collagen injection for urinary incontinence
Article Abstract:
Collagen injection can treat urinary incontinence in women over 70. These women may suffer from intrinsic urethral sphincter deficiency, which is not effectively treated by suspension surgery. Collagen injection is an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia, and one injection may restore sphincter control for years. Repeat injections are possible if needed, although some problems may not be solved. For example, urethral hypermobility could also be the cause of urinary incontinence.

Management of urinary tract infections in infants and children
Article Abstract:
Urinary tract infection commonly occurs as a bacterial illness in children. A structural abnormality of the urinary tract, such as vesicoueteral reflux, is a frequent cause. Renal involvement secondary to bacteriuria poses a significant risk, so a diagnosis should always be followed by appropriate imaging studies to pinpoint or rule out structural abnormalities and to help plan medical and surgical treatment.

An elderly man with urinary obstruction
Article Abstract:
The symptoms of a 71-year-old man complaining of markedly decreased strength of urinary flow but with normal urinalysis resolved with the removal of a calcium-encrusted surgical clip left in the penis after a radical prostectomy 8 years before. An x-ray of the pelvic area showed the surgical clip. A more gradual onset of symptoms than was experienced would be found with neurogenic bladder.
