Professional preparation and development for health promotion: a review of literature
Article Abstract:
A review of more than 70 studies of the education and training of health professionals in health promotion in the UK indicates that there are relatively few studies focusing on the effectiveness of professional development in health promotion. There is a clear need for work detailing the systematic evaluation of existing education and training programmes. Particular emphasis should be placed on assessing the impact of education on practice, rather than the reactions of learners to a learning process.

Health or beauty? A survey of Dundee women's attitudes to body size
Article Abstract:
A study carried out of women in Dundee, Scotland, found that most respondents sought to be thinner in order to conform to images of attractiveness presented in the media. The women recognised that to be thin was not necessarily to be healthy, but sought to control their weight through diet in order to lose weight. Younger women were most likely to want to be thin and tall. Satisfaction with body size can help women with self-esteem generally and this boosts their mental health.
