Comparing the accuracy of reversible hydrocolloid and elastomeric impression materials
Article Abstract:
The type of materials used to make crown or partial denture impressions may influence the accuracy of the reproduction. Five materials were used to make impressions of a set of model teeth. Reproductions were made from one of two casting materials. All of the impression materials produced reproductions marginally larger than the model. The polyether and hydrocolloid impression materials gave the most accurate reproductions. The hydrocolloid material was the most pliable and easiest to remove from the model and the casts.
