Computer use by dentists and dental team members
Article Abstract:
Computer use may be growing among dentists. Statistics published by the American Dental Association reveal that dentists of all ages use computers in their practices, but the highest usage, 80%, is among dentists aged 35 to 39. From 1991 to 1994, computer use by all dentists rose from 46% to 61%. Currently, computers in dentist' offices are used primarily by secretaries and receptionists for business management purposes. Dental applications for the dentist to use during patient examinations are being developed. Such computer use should improve dental patient care.

Survey of systematic reviews in dentistry
Article Abstract:
Evidence-based dentistry depends on systematic reviews, which do not appear frequently in the clinical dental literature, and their importance, which is not recognized by dentists, is discussed. There is a need to expand the topics for which systematic reviews are prepared, strengthen their quality and initiate a well-designed clinical study in areas that are lacking such that the information is provided to the dentists for the benefit of the general public.
