Council launches new training program
Article Abstract:
The National Safety Council will begin its training program called Agenda 2000 in Aug 1992. Agenda 2000, which will utilize video tapes and printed materials, aims to teach supervisors and rank and file employees how to promote health, safety and environmental consciousness within theirorganizations. Agenda 2000 has separate training modules for managers, operations groups and safety professionals. The program also hopes to make safety and environmental concerns a top management priority.

How one company excels in safety
Article Abstract:
HON Industries implemented a safety program in its organization that is integrated with its processes and places responsibility on each of its staff. The company identified unsafe practices through consultations with staff. This data enabled the company to put up signs on facilities and equipment, upgrade its building safety measures and develop an attitude of responsibility among the staff. Employees underwent cross-training to enable to work on a jobs in rotation.

Everyone wins with safety teams
Article Abstract:
Forming safety teams in a business organization empowers employees and gives employers the economic benefits stemming from reduced accidents. Employee self-directed teams with training, participation and ownership play an important part in any company's safety programs since safety teams increase safety awareness, positive attitudes and productivity aside from reducing accidents and injuries, compensation costs, absenteeism and federal fines.
