Cracking the fungal armor
Article Abstract:
Study is presented to show that fungal cells dampen host inflammatory responses by shielding inflammatory cell-wall polysaccharides from immune recognition, a process that is disrupted by antifungal compound. The findings also shed light on cell-wall assembly in a pathogenic fungus and reveal a network of fungal genes that preserve the structured arrangement of cell-wall carbohydrates.

From plankton to pathogen recognition
Article Abstract:
A study has done on innate immunity provide evidence that signaling through Toll-Like receptor activated the immune response and identified the signal Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a cell envelope component of Gram-negative bacteria. The data demonstrates the evidence that mammalian TLRs are receptors of the innate immune system that can lead to activation of adaptive immune responses.

A deer in the headlights: BAMBI meets liver fibrosis
Article Abstract:
The interconnection between enhanced fibrogenesis and signaling by Toll-like receptors (TLR4) that leads to hepatic fibrosis and liver injury is discussed. This is due to the high downregulation of the bone morphogenic protein and activin membrane-bound inhibitor (BAMBI) in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a TLR4 ligand.
