Health promotion and schizophrenia: the year 2000 and beyond
Article Abstract:
Schizophrenics are at high risk for medical problems that contribute to the progression of their illness. Health promotion is a key element in circumventing further complications. The health care community needs to address ways to focus on the patient's lifestyle rather than the pathology of the disease. Support systems for care-givers also need to be developed.
