Article Abstract:
The course of an 84-year-old woman with advanced dementia and an advance directive stating no artificial hydration or nutrition is reviewed. A stepwise approach that physicians could use to deal with conflicts and the use of treatment trials as a strategy to address conflicts about the use of life-sustaining medical interventions is outlined.

Pharmacological treatment of neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia: A review of the evidence
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to evaluate the efficacy of pharmacological agents used in the treatment of neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia. The conclusion states that pharmacological therapies are not effective for management of neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia as compared to the antipsychotics risperidone and olanzapine.
