Giving advice to improve care
Article Abstract:
The number of nurse advisors helping the pharmaceutical industry to improve patient care is steadily increasing despite the controversy generated by the role they play. Adele Blythe, nurse adviser at In2focus since 1999, highlights the advantages that both the industry and patients receive from the job she and others like her perform but emphasizes the importance of adhering to the NMC's code of conduct on the subject.

Article Abstract:
The author describes that her mother-in-law died of a hip fracture while in hospital due to the lack of care and attention given to her by the nurses. This led her to file a complaint about the incident to her local NHS trust, which admitted that since there was only one nurse available in the ward, there were lapses in the patient's care.
