Doctors fear precedent in privileges case
Article Abstract:
The Illinois appellate court declared that the hospital board has a duty to assess and continuously improve the quality of patient care, and even to suspend a physicians clinical privileges when continued practice poses an immediate danger to patients. However, the physicians are not comfortable with the court opinion and hence the American Medical Association and Illinois State Medical Society are joining a campaign to ask the Supreme Court to reverse the lower court decision.

The physicians from New Jersey got together in an effort to bring to the notice of patientsE and lawmakersE regarding the insurance problems faced by them. Thus, to get their message across, they have slowdowned their work that includes canceling elective surgeries and routine office visits, but treating emergencies.
