Doctors see MBA as key to personal, career fulfillment
Article Abstract:
The chief reason physicians return to school to obtain Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees is the personal one of getting to participate in policy development, according to a Florida research study. Out of 38 doctors in the University of South Florida (USF) MBA program who were surveyed, 21 expected to change careers after finishing the program, but only 9 expected to make more money than when in practice. Only physicians are admitted to the USF program, which is tailored to their needs and offers useful health care management courses.

Survey asks Wash. doctors about suicide assistance
Article Abstract:
A survey of 828 doctors in the state of Washington found that about a quarter of those who were asked by patients for assistance in committing suicide agreed to grant prescriptions for that purpose. Slightly more than a quarter of the doctors had been asked for physician-assisted euthanasia or suicide over the course of their careers, and that two-thirds of those asked responded with some form of information. Reasons for denying requests included the fact that the patient was likely to survive longer than six months or the patient was depressed.
