Does advanced ultrasound equipment improve the adequacy of ultrasound visualization of fetal cardiac structures in the obese gravid woman?

Article Abstract:

A study to analyze the effect of advanced ultrasound equipment on the ability to visualize fetal cardiac structures in obese gravid women is conducted. The reports revealed that despite technological advances in the quality of ultrasound machinery, maternal obesity limits visualization of the fetal heart, and that when obese patients were examined by ultrasound after 18 weeks, the use of the advanced ultrasound equipment showed positive effect on visualization of the outflow tracts.

Modified Bishop's score and induction of labor in patients with a previous cesarean delivery

Article Abstract:

A study evaluated the relationship between preinduction modified BishopEs score and obstetric outcome, including vaginal birth after prior cesarean (VBAC) and uterine rupture in patients with a previous cesarean undergoing induction of labor. Findings demonstrated that the modified BishopEs score before induction of labor is an independent factor associated with successful VBAC.

Accuracy of estimated fetal weight in shoulder dystocia and neonatal birth injury

Article Abstract:

The study determines if there is any difference in the rate of error of estimated fetal weight (EFW) in cases of shoulder dystocia compared with controls. It concluded that EFW underestimation error in cases of shoulder dystocia is an infrequent event and does not occur often than in deliveries without shoulder dystocia.
