EU cancer campaign falls short of targets
Article Abstract:
The Europe Against Cancer programme has failed to attract much public attention, according to the preliminary results of a survey of 16,000 people. The programme, which aims to reduce the number of cancer deaths by 15% before the end of the 1990s, has received extensive European Union investment. However, only 2% of people in the UK knew about the programme in 1995, with public awareness in the European Union as a whole at 19%, compared with 38% in 1990.
