Early initiation of antiretroviral therapy: The current best way to reduce liver-related deaths in HIV/hepatitis C virus-coinfected patients
Article Abstract:
The different ways used for preventing liver-related deaths in HIV patients coinfected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) are discussed. The HCV therapy is very important for HIV/HCV-coinfected patients, but early initiation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in coinfected patients is more effective in reducing liver-related mortality than in curing HCV infection.

Correlation between gag-specific CD8 T-cell responses, viral load, and CD4 count in HIV-1 infection is dependent on disease status
Article Abstract:
A study was designed to investigate the role of HIV-specific CD8 responses in patients with different disease status. Results suggest that the relationship between CD8 response and viral load or CD4 count is not universally consistent throughout the entire course of HIV-1 infection.
