Effect of additional questions about fat on the validity of fat estimates from a food frequency questionnaire

Article Abstract:

The addition of qualitative data regarding the kind of fat and decreased intake of visible fat and skin was examined as to whether it could enhance the validity of fat estimates from food frequency questionnaires. A random sample of women was requested to answer a questionnaire with 88 items in Uppsala County, Sweden. Findings showed that the increase in the validity of fat estimates when additional data are considered is minimal and that energy adjustments had greater influence.
