Electronic standards come a step closer to reality
Article Abstract:
The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) has established a new 'affiliate' category for small and midsized members which are legally linked to a corporate member of WEDI. State medical associations and other groups which fall into this category will pay $500 a year to join the workgroup, which promotes consensus among healthcare industry users of electronic transactions. WEDI also reduced fees for its corporate members. The group is expected to help facilitate implementation of the federally-mandated standards for electronic data interchange in healthcare.

Bylaws flap pits AMA against other ACGME sponsors
Article Abstract:
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is seeking changes in its bylaws, which would include its incorporation, but the American Medical Association (AMA) appears to be in opposition to such changes. The ACGME is comprised of five 'parent' organizations, one of which is the AMA. The AMA's position on the bylaws is pitting it against the other four member organizations.
