Emergency planning and the acute toxic potency of inhaled ammonia
Article Abstract:
The toxic potency of ammonia is examined, with a focus on the possibility of reducing emergency planning zones around ammonia facilities. Topics discussed include odor and odor threshold, vapor density, acute toxic inhalation effects, the interaction between concentration and exposure duration to produce toxic effects, acceptable risk criteria, fatal exposure concentration, and irreversible injury concentration.

Effects of electromagnetic fields on photophasic circulating melatonin levels in American kestrels
Article Abstract:
Studies show that exposure to electromagnetic fields can suppress plasma levels of melatonin, using American kestrels as test subjects. Melatonin suppression was highest in long-term fledglings and male kestrels, but was not observed in short-term fledglings or adult female kestrels.
