Union leader Rodney Bickerstaffe showed his leadership qualities when he successfully managed to combine three public sector unions into Unison which is the UK's largest union with 1.3 millon members. He has been a union leader for 14 years but denies that this makes him remote from the workers he represents. Although he welcomes a change of government to the Labour party he is unsure of how well they will be able to work together.

Confronting child abuse

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning child abuse are presented, with reference being made to the fact that abuse is usually committed by a person known to the child rather than a stranger. Highly complex skills are required by nurses and health visitors to deal with abuse cases.
