FTC gives OK to study insurance market

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in February 2003 issued an advisory opinion allowing Dayton physicians to start gathering data from individual doctors to evaluate the performance of health insurance companies in the community and to educate the public regarding their findings. The details regarding the procedures of the study of the health care advocacy group formed by the physicians are presented.

Medicare sets the 1st January 2004 as the deadline to fix doctor outpatient pay. With this, the Congress would loose the potential savings that could help fund an out patient prescription drug benefit and Medicare pay increases.
