Factors to consider in making OB discharge decisions
Article Abstract:
Physicians should consider medical indicators, clinical judgements of attending physicians and family preferences when making postnatal discharge decisions. Physician concern about determining when the time is right for discharge has been prompted by increased legislation mandating longer hospital stays for vaginal deliveries and cesarean births. Medical research indicates that many women prefer to return home before the manadated periods.
