Six ways to improve your practice
Article Abstract:
A physician who improves their practice can decrease costs and improve health care results. It is important for a physician to pay close attention to what a patient says. A computer-based patient record should be easy to obtain while maintaining patient confidentiality. Quality improvement should be strived for daily. Scientific measurement methods should be part of the medical review process. Change and learning should be part of the practice.

Birth-control technology continues to be stalled despite increased need. Abortion-related politics, product-liability suits and high research and development costs are hampering the efforts of contraceptive manufacturers. New contraceptives take about 10 to 17 years to develop and may cost from $30 mil to $70 mil. The need for new contraceptives continues to increase as unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases rise.
