Forkhead protein FoxO1 mediates Agrp-dependent effects of leptin on food intake
Article Abstract:
A study shows that delivery of adenovirus encoding a constitutively nuclear mutant FoxO1 to the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus of rodents, results in a loss of the ability of leptin to curtail food intake and suppress expression of Agouti-related protein (Agrp). FoxO1 also promotes opposite patterns of coactivator-corepressor exchange at the pro-opiomelanocortin (Pomc) and Agrp promoters, resulting in activation of Agrp and inhibition of Pomc.

The tangled path to glucose production
Article Abstract:
The various cAMP-dependance mechanisms are studied to examine the complex path of the production of glucose by the liver, which is mediated by the cAMP response element binding (CREB) coactivator Torc2. The results prove that the hepatic glucose production is a physiological defense mechanism, which can be widely used for diabetes treatment when combined with the new Torc2 pathway.
