Hepatitis: symptoms, treatment and prevention
Article Abstract:
The hepatitis viruses A and E tend to cause acute hepatitis, which is usually cured within six months. The hepatitis viruses B, C, D, G and H can lead to both acute and chronic hepatitis. All the viruses can be sexually transmitted. The acute symptoms of hepatitis are anorexia, arthralgia, malaise and mild abdominal pain and fever. For patients with chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C, the main treatments are antiviral agents such as lamivudine and immunomodulation, with alpha interferon being given to boost the patient's ability to use their immune system.
