Hormone changes in aging adults probe
Article Abstract:
The studies show that growth hormone (GH) levels decline with age and that a deficit in its hormone can bring increases in fat mass, declines in lean mass, a greater risk of osteopenia, a decrease in exercise tolerance, and an adverse cardiac risk profile. The GH debate and unanswered questions about addressing the changes in levels of GH and certain other hormones in older adults are gaining unprecedented attention by researchers and clinicians.

Interest in inhaled insulin grows
Article Abstract:
Researchers exploring alternative delivery systems believe that inhaled insulin could emerge as a viable, noninvasive avenue for administering insulin to patients with diabetes. The American Diabetes Association's 65th Scientific Sessions held in June 2005 at San Diego, California noted that a pulmonary insulin system, namely Exubera, was under evaluation by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals probed as potential pathways to illness
Article Abstract:
Humans are exposed to an increasing number of synthetic compounds in the environment. Evidence that some of the widely used chemicals might have hormonelike effects on the body is heightening concerns about their potential long-term health risks, particularly when developing fetuses and neonates are exposed.
