Some of the tips include collecting any additional pertinent materials that support the decision, identifying in writing the specific behavior or incident for the dismissal and being ready with the necessary documents and information that validate the termination process.

Acts of horizontal violence between nurses might adversely affect the work culture in the unit and patient care and lead to failure of retention of nursing staff. Work ethics should be fostered among nurses that promote staff empowerment, communication, collaboration and learning with zero-tolerance for horizontal violence.
