Hypnotizability, absorption and negative cognitions as predictors of dental anxiety
Article Abstract:
Hypnotizability, absorption (or the ability to maintain focused attention on a task or stimulus) and state, compared to trait anxiety, are investigated as predictors of dental anxiety. Results showed that there is a positive relationship between hypnotization and scores on the Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and that cognitions about dental procedures predict anxiety.
