Needlestick injuries
Article Abstract:
The Health Protection Agency's (HPA) report 'Eye of the Needle', published in March 2005, states that the groups most exposed to needlestick injuries are nurses and midwives. Dr Fortune Ncube, consultant epidemiologist at the HPA states that the main reason for injury is non-compliance with universal precautions for the safe handling and disposal of sharps.

Article Abstract:
Pressure area care is making sure that every nurse should have knowledge about patients who are at risk of forming pressure ulcers. In 2001, pressure ulcer prevention became one of the nine fundamental areas for benchmarking with the publication of the DoH's Essence of Care initiative.
