Improving your customer service skills

Increased media scrutiny of health care has led the Department of Health to call for improved customer service from the NHS. Dennis Gallagher, director of the Center for Customer Awareness, who is a trainer in improving customer service skills, states that more frontline staff, nurses need to be trained in customer service, as they need to identify themselves as service providers.

Organising child care effectively
Article Abstract:
RCN's survey Working Well, published in 2002 revealed that irregular shift patterns, long hours and cost implications mean nurses still face huge challenges when it comes to balancing work and children. Some of the ways for making the most out of the childcare include being well informed, using childcare coordinator, and putting one's child-name for an on-site nursery.

Rising star

The Infection control policy lead at the Healthcare Commission, Helen Jenkinson, was conferred with the NT Awards 2006 Rising Star for her exhaustive work in raising the profile of infection control in the community. Her efforts in handling healthcare related infections in the community, which make her worthy of the honours, are described.
