Inflammation and cancer
Article Abstract:
This review examines the role of inflammation in the cancer development and tumor progression. Research points out tumor microenvironment is involved in the neoplastic processes such as cell proliferation, survival and migration. Furthermore, cancer cells recruit immune system signal molecules, selectins, chemokines and their receptors for cell invasion, cell migration and metastasis.

Mast cells in autoimmune disease
Article Abstract:
This review makes a case for the involvement of mast cells, found in skin and mucosa, in coordinating the early events of autoimmune diseases by recruiting cohorts of neutrophils and lymphocytes. Furthermore, recent research findings indicate that the mast cells are involved in the complex cellular pathways such as those involving auto-antibodies that progress to autoimmune disease.

eLixiRs for restraining inflammation
Article Abstract:
Recent research shows that a new class of activated nuclear hormone receptors, liver X receptors (LXRs), mediate inflammation reduction as shown in mouse models. Data indicate that the LXRs with their binding partner retinoid receptors are activated by oxysterols. Implications of this in atherosclerosis, Alzheimer disease, sepsis and other inflammatory disorders is discused.
