Is curiosity killing nursing?
Article Abstract:
There has been a strong shift towards the use of academic concepts within nursing in the UK since the late 1980s. Nursing has become an evidence-based profession, with nurses being required to be rigorous and numerate if they wish to secure the future of specific services. Nursing certainly benefits from being informed by theory, but there may be dangers associated with placing too great an emphasis on academic excellence. Theory should challenge and refine nursing practice, rather than shape it. It is vital that talented nurses who do not have an academic bias do not feel excluded.

Madness and the millennium
Article Abstract:
Mental health professionals working in the vicinity of the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, London, England, are reporting a number of cases of millennium psychosis. Sufferers believe that they have in some way ingested the millennium bug or that the world will come to an end. Mental health professionals anticipate that millennium psychosis will become more common when the Millennium Dome actually opens and is therefore even more in the public eye.
