Life savers
Article Abstract:
Transplant coordinators organise donor organ retrieval and allocation. They provide support and after-care for the donor's relatives and motivate the recipient. Coordinators regard public and in-hospital education a major part of their job as most negative attititudes are a result of ignorance. Nurses may be slow to identify potential donors due to misconceptions about patient suitability. However, little time exists for comprehensive education programmes.

Degrees of nonsense
Article Abstract:
Some NHS trusts are now refusing to consider for senior positions nurses who do not have a degree. This means that they are missing out on employing nurses who have a great deal of experience and could prove a valuable asset. It is naturally important that nurses undertake formal training, and graduate nurses do have an important role to play. However, possessing a degree does not necessarily make someone a good nurse.

Healthy alternatives?
Article Abstract:
Research-based information should support arguments for and against complementary medicine. The future of alternative therapies depends on practitioners proving their efficacy. Such remedies are appropriate to a more holistic approach to patient care. However, anecdotal evidence will be insufficient in future claims to resources. Patients are entitled to benefit from proven remedies.
