Gill Stewart's post which began in November 2004 at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust is one of the five being set up by the Lymphoma Association to improve the care of patients who have Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The role played by Gill Stewart, the first nurse specialist to be funded by the Lymphoma Association, in helping support patients with common cancer is presented

Harry Cayton, the first director of patient experience and public involvement at the British National Health Service believes that nurses are the key to improving patient care. He believes that nurses should be given more authority over patient care and that nursing care teams should be organized to improve patient care.
