Making the grade: soy's potential health and muscle-building benefits

Experimental evidence shows that soy protein offers potential health benefits and plays an important role in muscle development. Two different studies conducted at the University of Texas-Galveston and Nanjing Agricultural University in China demonstrate the ability of soy protein to improve bodyweight gain and increase serum testosterone levels.

The effectivity of protein in a bodybuilder's diet is a function of the variety of amino acids in the protein, the timing and amount of protein intake and how the bodybuilder's body responds to his intake of protein. These factors need to be manipulated in order to effect muscle development.
