Malaria vaccine shows promise
Article Abstract:
The largest malaria vaccine efficacy trial conducted in Africa has proved that a candidate vaccine is safe in children aged 1 to 4 years and can protect a significant proportion of them against uncomplicated malaria, infection, and severe forms of the disease for at least 6 months. The research revealed that children who received 3 doses of the vaccine were 30 percent less likely to develop at least one episode of clinical malaria compared with children given a control vaccine.
