Activists threaten academic research funding

Right-to-life groups are pressuring the Nebraska legislature to cut funding to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Scientists at the UNMC Center of Neurovirology and Neurodegenerative Diseases use fetal tissue from abortion clinics to get human neurons and microglia for research purposes.

NIH researches response to commonly used medicines

The US National Institutes of Health will award $53 million in research grants by 2005 to identify genetic factors that determine a patient's response to medications. The resulting data will be collected in the Stanford University Pharmacogenetics Knowledge Base.
