Tracheal suction
Article Abstract:
Endotracheal suctioning is carried out when a patient with an artificial airway such as tracheostomy or endotracheal tube cannot cough and void pulmonary sections thus maintaining a clear airway and optimizing respiratory function. The associated risks of endotracheal suctioning like hypoxia, trauma and infection along with its equipment and procedure are discussed.
