Neocolpopoiesis with split-thickness skin graft as a surgical treatment of vaginal agenesis: retrospective review of 201 cases
Article Abstract:
Surgical creation of a vagina using a modification of the Abbe-McIndoe technique appears to provide excellent results in women in whom a vagina is congenitally absent. Over a 51-year period, a single surgeon performed 201 procedures. There were two rectal perforations and 19 postoperative infections. Of the 156 women for whom follow-up was obtained, only 13 women had a vagina rated anatomically unsatisfactory because its depth was less than 5 centimeters and only 8 women expressed dissatisfaction with their sexual performance. Anatomical results tended to be worse in women under age 18.

Urinary angiogenic factors cluster hypertensive disorders and identify women with severe preeclampsia
Article Abstract:
The clustering of hypertensive disorders due to the alterations in urinary levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) and placental growth factor (PIGF) is examined and women with severe preeclampsia are identified. At the time of clinical manifestation, it is observed that severe preeclampsia (sPE) is associated with increased urinary output of the antiangiogenic factor sFlt-1 and a decreased output of PIGF.

A low vaginal "pool" amniotic fluid glucose measurement is a predictive but not a sensitive marker for infection in women with preterm premature rupture of membranes
Article Abstract:
A study to identify the use of vaginal amniotic fluid (vAF) glucose measurement in predicting infection of the amniotic fluid retrieved by transabdominal amniocentesis (aAF) in women with preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM) was conducted. The results revealed that the vAF glucose measurements less than 5mg/dL have predictive value, but low sensitivity for detection of intra-amniotic infection.
