Neonatal Autopsies
Article Abstract:
The rate of autopsies of newborns has dropped significantly in recent years, despite the recognized importance of the procedure in infants with whom the cause of death is often unclear. Neonatal autopsy can reduce parental concerns over causes of death and offer information into the genetic implications of future pregnancies. Of 487 neonatal deaths over 10 years, autopsies were done on 296 (60.8%). This is an average that involved a large decline in autopsy rates during that time. During the first five years, the rate of autopsy was 71.2% and during the last five years, it dropped to 47.7%

Review of Hazards Associated With Children Placed in Adult Beds
Article Abstract:
The likelihood of a child younger than two years of age dying as a result of sleeping in an adult bed is a definite risk which should be noted and heeded by parents. Between January of 1990 and December of 1997, a total of 515 children died as a result of sleeping in adult beds. Of those 515, 121 were the result of an adult lying on the child and causing suffocation. The other 394 were due to some sort of entrapment in the bed itself, suffocation or strangulation by being trapped in the structure of the bed.
