Non-healing leg ulceration
Article Abstract:
Total wound healing is not always an achievable target when dealing with certain types of wound. It must be recognized that failure to achieve total wound healing can cause emotional distress among practitioners dealing with non-healing ulceration and may prompt them to unfairly blame the patient.

Pin-site care
Article Abstract:
An assessment of the literature on the care of pin sites associated with external fixators used to stabilize or immobilize bones is presented. It is now known that the infection rate for pin sites is linked to where the fixator is situated and whether corrections are being undertaken.

Traumatic wounds: cleansing and dressing
Article Abstract:
It is vital that traumatic wounds are very carefully irrigated and debrided. Infection can result if foreign debris, dead tissue, haematoma and devitalized skin are not removed. If the wound is clean, it can be closed mainly with staples, sutures, skin tapes or adhesives.
