Heard the one about the nurse and the engineer?
Article Abstract:
The government's announcement that nurse consultants are paid UKPd40,000 a year has apparently attracted civil engineers, seeking nursing as a safe and professionally unaccountable career with low entrance requirements, paid post graduate training and a one of the best pension plans available. This suggests that the government's UKPd5 million nurse recruitment campaign is working. Civil engineer Stephen Trowbridge's letter in "New Civil Engineer" is discussed.

Article Abstract:
The isolated and vulnerable working routine of a community psychiatric nurse leave many open to claims of misconduct, such as abusing a patient either physically, sexually or mentally.
